Part of Drip 1: Nourish With Water

Part of Drip 1: Nourish With Water

In the earlier post for The Daily Drip I promised to share how and why I built my own daily drips.

Here's Drip One — and telling it properly means crossing into two categories actually: Health, and Diet.

I'll share the health part in this post, and share the Diet one next time I do create and share.

So here we go:

Drip One: I nourished myself today.

Part of my daily drip each day is to nourish my body with a glass of water.

For a long time, I thought it was just me. Why could everybody else function when I couldn't? Other people seemed to get out of bed, get dressed, go to work, take care of their families, make plans, exercise, build things and move through their days without having to think so hard about how they were going to find the energy to do it. Meanwhile, I was trying to stretch between 4 x kids, a granddaughter, a partner, and hormones that were all over the place with an unwelcome arrival of perimenopause. No matter how much I wanted my body to do what I wanted. I was completely and utterly exhausted. Not ordinary tired. No...that would be easy to fix. I mean the other tired. Not “I could do with an early night" tired. I mean struggling to find enough energy to get out of bed and participate in my own life kind of tired.. And I knew that if I couldn't find the energy to get out of bed, I wasn't going to be able to do any of the other things I wanted to do. My relationship would likely collapse, and quite possibly so would I. So I decided to make a change.

I made a decision and I asked my body what was wrong. The answer: I needed energy. Ok great.... But where the heck was I supposed to get it? Money was unpredictable. Time was unpredictable. Help was unpredictable. Some days revolved around children or their appointments, I had responsibilities, and often times somebody else needing something from me at a moments notice. Some days I was away from home. Some days I had resources available to me, and other days I didn’t. Whatever I chose had to survive all of that. It couldn’t depend on having a free hour, an empty house, spare money, special equipment, the right location or somebody else showing up. It had to be infallible. So simple and so basic that nothing...and I mean nothing ....could derail it. Not the kids. Not being away from home. Not a difficult day. Not even the  fact that I was already  exhausted. I didn’t need a perfect new routine. I needed one small promise I could keep wherever I was and whatever the day looked like. That promise became Drip One: Water. It wasn't energy...not yet....but it was the first beginnings of listening to my body, and acknowledging I needed nourishing.

So I started with the water for the nourishing part, and then added my vitamins for the nourishment part of energy until I could figure out a different way of getting what my body needed.

But I'll share that with you in the next post.

I have two parts for my first daily drip. The first part? Is Water.

What about you?

Have you created your first daily drip yet?

If so feel free to share a comment below of what you chose and why in the comments below. ❤️
