Why I Love The CALYL Charity Journal
I love this journal because it changed the way I think about charity.
I used to think of charity mostly as giving — giving money, giving time, helping someone else.
But these prompts made me think about something I hadn't considered nearly as much:
receiving.
What happens when you're always the person pouring into everybody else's cup? What happens when somebody wants to pour something back into yours? And are we as willing to receive with love as we are to give?
One of these prompts kickstarted the story of The Water Bearer — a story about giving, receiving, worth and the cups we carry through our lives.
That's what I love about journaling.
Sometimes you answer a question.
And sometimes a question follows you somewhere you never expected to go.
One prompt. One thought. One small choice at a time. ❤️

A DIFFERENT KIND OF CHARITY JOURNAL
Charity is often presented as something that moves in only one direction—from the person who has enough to the person who needs help.
Life is rarely that simple.
Our circumstances and capacity can change. At different times, we may be able to give money, time, attention, encouragement or practical help. At other times, we may be the person receiving care, kindness or support.
Receiving does not reduce your worth.
Giving does not need to deplete you.
This journal does not tell you how much to give, who to help or what charity should look like. It simply offers questions through which you can explore your own experiences, choices and capacity.
A sample topic is Pay It Forward:

“When I pay it forward, I give it to…”
“I know this helps someone because…”
“I could help more with this by…”
You decide what those questions mean to you.....and whether you want to answer them at all.
A QUIET ALTERNATIVE TO SCROLLING
The journal can be used when you want something quieter than another feed, video or notification.
Instead of being shown what to think about next, you can choose one page, sit with one question and direct your own attention.
Your answers remain yours.
There are no accounts to create, feeds to follow, streaks to maintain or answers to submit.
You may write privately on your iPad, print selected pages or use the complete journal from beginning to end.
