Sometimes the smallest things bring the most unexpected joy.
I absolutely LOVE discovering beautiful new things.
And this week, one of those things arrived in the post.
A gorgeous little pink shell from Made by Mars, containing a natural perfume balm!!!
And oh my goodness...
It is the sweetest thing ever!!! 🩷🐚
I'm not sure what I love more?
The pretty pink on the shell?
The delicate gold edging?
The tiny clasp that feels delightful to open?
Or simply the fact that I'm holding a real-world product in my hands that someone imagined, created and brought into the world?
I love things like this....little discoveries that make an ordinary day feel just a little more beautiful.
And this one has had me smiling ever since it arrived.

The shell arrived packaged in green tissue with a little postcard as shown above.
And inside was the prettiest little pink shell.... both front and back.

I LOVE LOVE LOVED the colour!!!!

OMG I loved all of it lol!!!!
There's something quite delightful about opening a little object simply because you enjoy opening it.
And this little shell is definitely one of those things.
Inside is the perfume balm.
Velvety soft and ever so faintly scented.
I gave it lots of rubs and lathered it on myself, but I honestly couldn't tell whether it was because I currently had a cold or whether the scent was simply much more subtle than the commercial perfumes I usually wear....so I do want to mention this....
if you are expecting a strong commercial fragrance?
This isn't it....think instead...soft....subtle....gentle.
Which leads me onto the journal prompt for this post.

Today's journaling prompt is from the self-care journal, and asks us to consider calming scents.
This may be a commercial familiar fragrance......or something completely new like an eco perfume scent....or it could be something different like loving the smell of fresh flowers.....or coffee.....or freshly washed sheets.....the ocean.... a favourite perfume or the smell of rain 🌦️🩷
We don't all love the same things.
And we don't need to.
That's part of the beauty of choosing a life we love.

Sometimes self-care begins with noticing what we already love.
A fragrance that reminds us of home.
A flower growing in the garden.
The smell of freshly brewed coffee in the morning.
Or a little perfume balm tucked inside a beautiful pink shell.

A Little Something to Love 🐚

One of the things I particularly love about this discovery is that the little shell is an object I can keep.
Even when the perfume balm is finished.
Maybe lip gloss?
OMG YESSSSS.
Lip gloss inside the little shell — even with a tiny mirror?!
I would be twirling and swooning with delight. 😂🩷

For me, I loved a few different things with this experience, and it wasn't all 100% related to the product.
My daughter and I found Made by Mars years ago at a little market and have followed them ever since. Both the girls are passionate and delightful (the other side is candles too but I haven't brought one yet), and I utterly loved their enthusiasm and spirit, yet I also 100% love their products too....(side note...I absolutely adore their Aura Mist...https://madebymars.com.au/products/aura-mist .....I love cleaning our home or mine and the kids bedroom and blessing the space with it...OMG!!! I love love love it!!!)
Anyway, back to my little perfume shell.
I loved the packaging.... the thought of putting an eco conscious perfume into a reusable shell....
I also loved the beautiful pink colour....because I just love the colour pink!
I loved the delicate edging.
I loved the little clasp.
And I particularly loved how delightful the shell felt to open and sit in my hand....there's a real world tactile experience to many things in this little product....the ridges on the shell....the opening of the clasp...the smooth texture of the perfume....honestly...it's a delight!!
The perfume itself was much more subtle than I expected, although I couldn't properly judge the fragrance whilst I had a cold....but I also think that is the difference between something natural and commercial.
So my review is really about not just the perfume in the little shell but also the experience of the entire experience of the entire product too.
And on a scale of 1-10?
10/10 — I Loved It!!! 🩷🐚
I love discovering products that make me feel good....especially when they're things I might never have thought to look for or consider.
And I think that's one of my favourite parts of creating Choose A Life You Love.
The opportunity to explore, discover and share beautiful little things.
Not because everyone else needs to love them.
But because someone else might like to try different things too.....maybe try support women making their own products....maybe try using a natural eco conscious product....maybe try a different perfume smell to the regular signature scent you've worn for years.
And perhaps sharing one little discovery creates an opportunity for another. 🩷
